Symbiotic Cultures Supper Club is a monthly plant-based dinner party series hosted by Jennie Maydew and myself, in collaboration with fellow artists and friends. We aim to seamlessly blur the lines between art-making and food-making, and we achieve this through unique menus, invitations, recipes, take-aways and play with the physical space itself. Guests are actively involved, contributions ranging from harvesting backyard flowers for a table centerpiece to capturing beautiful content to assist in documentation. While we focus on creating and executing an elaborate and themed menu, our guests are happy to share the cost of ingredients, enabling Supper Club to be an accessible and welcoming space for all. Creating, cooking and eating together has become a way to maintain friendship and communal bonds, explore the overlap between cooking and object making, and enhance the rigor of our collective practice of nurturing ourselves and each other.
